Field Note: Credit Cards Expire, Which Also Impacts Your Domain
A credit card expiration briefly took the domain offline and added an avoidable plot twist to an already busy month.

It has been a month of house guests, work platform launches, and the usual attempt to keep several moving parts pointed in the same direction.
Then a credit card expired.
The domain provider used that small administrative fact to remind me that domain management is part of operating a website. The site went down until the billing details were updated, which is a very efficient way to learn that "the application works" and "the site is available" are different statements.
We are back up and running. The practical lesson is less glamorous than the launch: keep the domain registration, billing contact, renewal settings, and recovery path somewhere the future version of you can find them.
